The colors of autumn

It’s time for soup

The colors of autumn is the topic of Justin’s show-and-tell this week. And we forgot to prep him. Great parenting Jimmy!

Autumn is the best season in Beijing.

In my 4 years of living in Beijing, autumn is my favorite season.

The weather is comfortably warm and breezy.  Perfect weather for al fresco dinning which I think Shanghai lacks compare to Beijing.

I remember one time walking out of the Black Tiger gym after BJJ training and witnessed the most amazing sunset and thought to myself, if Beijing is like this everyday, I would never leave.

But then I left, mostly due to the air but also to get serious about my career.  Agency career trajectory in Beijing is limited to say the least.

That was the last time I switched jobs.  This time, after 8.5 years, I’m back to the agency where I started.

As the weather is getting cooler now, it is important we stay healthy and not get sick.  Which is why I like making soups during cold weather.  My favorite last year was chicken with fish maw soup, lots of garlic and ginger.

Today I’m not gonna make that, I made pumpkin soup, to be in-line with Justin’s show and tell theme. I made sure to make a ton of garlic and ginger as well and he did not like it.

In fact, I didn’t enjoy it either, too much ginger but hey, I felt better drinking it.

Then we also made clam chowder, that I enjoyed, in fact I ate the whole pot.

Justin had fun helping as well

Time to teach him to be a live-streamer so daddy can retire early!

Look at Justin, so happy
